What is Happening at Gen1 Greenhouse?

What Have We Been Up To?

Here at Gen1 Greenhouse, we have been busy with landscaping jobs, plant breeding, propagation of new plant varieties, and other behind-the-scenes work most of this season. We appreciate your patience as our sales gradually increase in size and frequency. We are working towards opening the nursery full-time, Tuesday-Saturday, but considering that we only have one worker (Caleb Jones) working as the founder, owner, nurseryman, landscaping job coordinator, customer service/sales representative, plant breeder, accountant, propagation manager, and much more, all at the age of 18, we are having to take things a bit slowly.

More About Caleb

Caleb has grown to learn and love more about this job than he ever could have imagined back in 2021, at age 13, when he received his first plant as a gift from his neighbor, Mrs. Bobbie. That one plant would forever change Caleb’s life. Now, in 2026, Gen1 Greenhouse: Nursery and Landscaping stands as a testament to Caleb’s passion for plants.

We are developing a new line of re-seeding, low-maintenance petunia to be released commercially in our town within the next few years. We are also building community connections all the way from Nacogdoches to Center, Lufkin to Carthage, and to many more locations; all through sharing our plant cares guides, landscape design, and love for God’s beautiful creation. We hope to spread the appreciation of plants with new (and old) generations alike for many years to come.

Future Plans

Now that the mission here at Gen1 Greenhouse has been made known, it begs the questions of how we plan to achieve it. As mentioned prior, we plan to expand upon our seasonal sale events by opening with regular nursery hours. This would allow customers to come as needed, rather than waiting for a specific sale event. We also plan to continue our active service of delivery near the Nacogdoches and Center areas.

We also plan to keep scaling the landscaping side of the business. Currently, we offer both residential and commercial flowerbed design, installation, renewal, and maintenance services, but we hope to soon hire employees to execute some of the work, which would allow Caleb time to tend to the nursery full time.

As for the nursery, we understand that it can be difficult to drive all the way out into the Swift Hill/Shady Grove community just for a few plants, so we are actively looking to purchase a plot of land for the nursery closer to town. Ideally the property would be 2-5 acres with a pond and adequate parking space. We would love to feature water fountains, yard decorations, bird and hummingbird feeders, and much more for sale at our nursery once we expand to this point.

Another large goal we hope to achieve is nation-wide shipping of select inventory. There are many regulations on shipping live plant matter across state borders, but it is possible with select species and varieties. This would allow us to spread the appreciation of God’s creation with even more people!

Our Appreciation For Our Loyal Customers

None of what we have accomplished over the last three years would have been possible without our loyal customers and followers. As of writing this, we have 1,700 followers on Facebook alone, and many dozens of loyal customers which we can count on to visit every time the doors are open!

Thank you, each and every one who has played a part in the support of this business. Your patience, joyful attitudes, and unwavering support has been greatly appreciated and valued each step of the way.

We hope to continue to satisfy your expectations to the best of our ability, and to give back all that we can through sale events and giveaway items.

Thank you for reading, and as always, Happy Gardening!
